\”Some give by going to the missions. Others go by giving to the missions. Without both, there are no missions.\” Blessed John Paul II
The Come & See Mission is a unique and exciting opportunity for our friends from around the world to have an immersive experience among the missions of the Apostles of Jesus in East Africa. Each Come & See trip will be custom designed to accommodate your specific interests in the various missions and sites to be seen in Africa. Do you have a special place in your heart for AIDS ministry? For agriculture? For education? Have you always dreamed of seeing lions in the wild? Tracking gorillas? Encountering orphaned elephants? Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro? The possibilities are limitless. Read more below regarding the three mission opportunities.
- Apostolic Safaris
- Voluntary Service Immersion
- Spiritual Renewal
Apostolic Safari: Participants on this trip will visit mission sites and stay at Apostles of Jesus facilities, but they will not be there to “get their hands dirty”, so to speak; they will be able to custom design a trip combining their personal interests with the array of site-seeing available to them.
Voluntary Service Immersion trip: This option will appeal to people who would like to work alongside the Apostles of Jesus and their sister order the Evangelizing Sisters of Mary at their missions. The program will include service and educational elements, as well as site-seeing adventures. This will be ideal for an extended Alternative Break for colleges and universities.
Spiritual Renewal: Of the three varieties, this trip is still most in development. This trip will be geared toward those individuals with special interest in East African spirituality and the Charism of the Apostles of Jesus. In addition to a spiritual retreat, participants on this trip will also have the opportunity to experience an authentic African safari.
Traveling to Africa with the Apostles of Jesus will be a life-changing experience.
