The Religious Missionary Institute of the Apostles of Jesus popularly know as Apostles of Jesus (AJ) this year 2026 are thanking God as they welcome ten of their newly ordained priests into presbytery. According to a communication from the General administration, it says, “We write to you with hearts filled with profound gratitude to Almighty God as we celebrate priestly ordination of ten (10) deacons. Through the grace of God these Brothers have been ordained priests and are now ready to begin their apostolic ministry among God’s people we extend our deepest appreciation to every member of the congregation for your spiritual solidarity, prayers, material; support, and tireless fraternal encouragement during the entire period of the ordinations.”
Those who were ordained to priesthood were assigned to work in different regions in Africa. Three were assigned to Uganda Region, that is Reverend Fathers; James Kasule, AJ, Venansio Twesigye, AJ and Andrew Mangali, AJ. Three others were assigned to Kenya Region, and they are, Reverend Fathers’ Ambrose Arama, AJ, Raphael Tumushabe, AJ, and Anakeleti Maridadi, AJ. Two were assigned to Tanzania Vice Province, that is Reverend Fathers’ Alex Patrick Wagalinda, AJ and Tom Twinomjuni, AJ and the last group were assigned to work in South Sudan that is Reverend Fathers’ Prosper Turihamwe, AJ and Sosteni Turyasingura, AJ.
To reach the stage of ordination in the Apostles of Jesus Missionaries, you go through a rigorous formation that takes you through different stages of formation. On being accepted to join the AJ missionaries, one begin with an year Aspirancy, then two years of Postulancy. During these two stages the candidates simultaneous embark also on serious philosophical studies for three years. Then the candidates are admitted for their novitiate that takes two years of their formation. During this stage, the candidates learn more about the charism of our congregation, its foundation, lives of saints and more about religious life. They then join Theology for 4yrs, another one for pastoral year and then they are ordained deacons.
The Deacons in Apostles of Jesus are mostly ordained to priesthood in their home Dioceses and the lucky ones in their home parishes or dioceses. The 10 who were ordained, were ordained on different days by their local ordinaries. It is a great joy for the church at large to welcome these young energetic men into its mission.
